There are certain aspects of the opening of 'The Inbetweeners' and the opening of 'Kidulthood' that are similar. Both openings, for example, take place in school playgrounds and the camera shots are both of school pupils. However they also have many differences. First of all the music used in 'Kidulthood' creates tension and suspense within a matter of seconds, where as the music in 'The Inbetweeners' doesn't create any tension or suspense. The camera shots are also different. In 'The Inbetweeners' the camera focus's on one character throughout (from several different angles in time to the music), where as in 'Kidulthood' the camera focus's on a number of different characters. The constant skipping from character to character in the opening of 'Kidulthood' also helps to convey a sense of tension. The picture seems blurred in 'kidulthood', where as the camera is focused in the inbetweeners. in 'Kidulthood' the setting seems much darker than that in 'The Inbetweeners', I feel that this gives an indication as to what is to come. In 'The Inbetweeners' there are flashbacks which are used to help the audience to understand more about the character that the opening scene is based around. In 'Kidulthood' they don't do this. Also in 'The Inbetweeners' there is a narrator (that happens to be the character that the scene is based around) that explains what is going on, this isn't done in 'Kidulthood' either. You get a much better knowledge of what's going on in the opening of 'The Inbetweeners' than what's going in 'Kidulthood' because of this.
